Each summer, the lotus lends a splash of colour to Macao as thousands of blooms transform parks and public spaces across the city. Organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), the annual Lotus Flower Festival pays tribute to the elegant aquatic plant that serves as Macao’s official floral emblem. The 2026 festival, held from June 12 to July 17, featured more than 9,000 potted lotus plants. The centrepiece, on Avenida da Praia in Taipa, showcased an array of lotus varieties alongside bamboo-inspired features and ornamental stone arrangements.
